USA Election – If our President was an NFL Player

November 4th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Today are the USA Presidential Elections. Everything is going around this event and, in a day like today, the sports betting world is usually left behind. So, if you are just as me and enjoy sports so much that you can’t just forget about it, you’ll enjoy this thing I came up with for the special day.

What would happen if our new President was…

Brett Favre: Ah, just forget about it. You’ll have this guy for decades. He’ll cry when the period ends, say goodbye and then just run for President again.

Terrell Owens: Presidential speeches will be significantly reduced due to his lack of control over his emotions. He will probably cry and complain about how Bush has been hardly criticized these years.

Tom Brady: He’d better get a good Vice President with him because he could break a leg or something on his first day of Command.

Tony Romo:  Many will probably think the First Lady will be distracting him from his duties so we’ll end up officially losing the war.

Plaxico Burress: Don’t bother trying to attend his speeches, meetings, parties, or other scheduled activities, you know he won’t show up anyway.

So, who would be your favorite NFL president? Start voting now!

Kobe Bryant jumps over a pool of snakes - Too much free time during playoffs?

May 27th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

2008 Western Conference Finals seem to be owned by Los Angeles Lakers. Just defeated once by the Defending Champions, San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers seem to be having a good time, with the advantage on the current 2-1 global score. They probably have time to do a couple of dumb things in the meantime, because they don’t feel that much pressure. At least that’s what 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant seems to be doing, with another one of his famous and questionable jumps.

Many people still remember the questioned video where Kobe jumped over an Aston Martin. Lots came out to prove it was fake (and it probably was). Now Kobe jumps an amazing distance again, this time for MTV’s Jackass and flying over a pool full of snakes. In the Kobe snake jump video, you can see the LA Lakers star jumping across the pool to make a dunk. Here’s the full video where Kobe Bryant jumps over the snakes:

Is this one real? Maybe. There will be many who will try to prove otherwise. But if this is a real thing, then there are only 2 things left to say:

1. That would definitely be a reason why Kobe Bryant is this year’s MVP and is leading the Lakers towards the NBA Championship.

2. Only a team of morons would send their biggest star to goof around on Jackass in the middle of NBA playoffs, where he could end up breaking something… or getting an awful snake bite.

Clemens and Pierce - sports players get controversial once again

April 29th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Roger Clemens, Paul Pierce. The last few days have brought more controversy than exciting action in the Sports World. Famous names are flashing all over the place, but just because of bad scandals.

Former baseball star Roger Clemens is on the news headlines again. Besides his bad reputation for the possible use of steroids, he seems to have something else to worry about: it was recently discovered that he had a decade-long affair with country singer Mindy McCready, which started when she was just 15. Not exactly what you want to hear about your baseball field idols. What happened to all the good sports-related stuff he should be remembered for? Sports people have always been surrounded by scandals, but it’s really sad when you realize that those dumb actions can actually outshine the golden Yankee years.

Stepping into a much more active zone, the 2007-2008 NBA Playoffs are giving a lot to talk about… and again it doesn’t have much to do with basketball. A part of the Celtics divine-dunk trinity seems to be also in the polemics club: Paul Pierce was fined with $25,000 for making an offensive gesture to Atlanta HawksAl Horford after he taunted him. Many have associated the “B” sign made by Pierce with gangs and some kind of threat. Other have jumped immediately to say it’s not gang-related and it’s something Paul Pierce does all the time. Funny thing is, the video that showed the moment is not available anymore. In the end, how come people are talking about the Celtics and Paul Pierce but not for the outstanding performance they should be showing?

There’s a lot going on for the true sports betting fan. However, it seems players are busy doing controversial stuff instead of focusing on what really matters and what let them into the spotlight in the first place: their game.

April Fool’s Hoaxes and the Sidd Finch legend

April 1st, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

For this April Fool’s Day, I was thinking of creating a fake shocking story and wait for the reactions. But that’s what everbody does. So, instead of trying to play joker, I’m talking about other people’s hoax.

Sure, today you were probably amazed by Google’s plan to gather a few people and travel to Mars, YouTube featured videos or even with the Legend of Zelda movie trailer. But good old sports fans (especially baseball betting fans) will never forget the best April Fool’s Day sports hoax ever: Sidd Finch.

Sidd Finch

The Sidd Finch hoax was so damn cool and clever that it’s listed as #2 in the Museum of Hoaxes’ Top 100 April Fool’s Day hoaxes of all time. Sports Illustrated published Sidd Finch’s story on the April issue in 1985. Sidd (from Siddharta) was supposed to be a rookie training to play with the New York Mets, a yoga freak who could throw a ball at 168mph. His story was really weird: he was a Harvard dropout who went to Tibet and learned from the great Lama Milaraspa the techniques that allowed him to throw at that speed. He was an amazing potential pitcher for the Mets, even when he hadn’t even played baseball in his life.

Lots of people were taken in, and even called to know more information about the rookie. Baseball bettors were probably saving all their money to put it on the new star! So be careful with this month’s issue of any magazine. TV hoaxes at least are just for 1 day, but monthly editions can be tricky.

In the meantime, just play it cool at BookPerHead where all bookies sign up and receive 1 year totally free!!! ….

… Ok, ok, I just had to try the hoax thing. But you do get a free week when you sign up, that’s for real!….

Vogue Magazine finally unveiled LeBron’s cover

March 26th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

The controversial April Vogue Magazine Issue is finally out, with the cover that has everyone talking. Just like it was announced: our King James standing right next to top model Gisele Bündchen.

As said before, they made the Cover of Vogue because this was an issue dedicated to shape and “perfect fit”. The funny thing is that many people seem to be upset, but for different reasons. The cover, as you can see, shows an angry king-kong like LeBron holding the poor lady in danger, Gisele. It seems it looks too racist because of the angry, dangerous black man stereotype. And if you take a close look at it, you’ll probably see that too:

However, what really upsets me is the fact that King James apperars on the cover of a Fashion magazine and not even for his great performance as one of the best players in the NBA right now. He looks like he’s there selling tips to lose weight or something like that. With Gisele on the side, it looks like “this is the couple everybody should be trying to be”.

I prefer to see LeBron on his natural habitat, actually using his basketball for something good and getting “woes” from the crowd for his non-stop scoring and his amazing skills. Now that’s some inspiration! He inspires me to place my bets based on his brilliant play.

Funny Holidays with some March Madness and LeBron Fashion

March 14th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

This is certainly a weird day. If you have a calendar of useless holidays like I do, you’ll notice the Math world is celebrating Pi Day. Yes, Pi like 3.14 and all the rest. Since today is March 14th (3/14), then rejoice, geek world! For the rest of the people that don’t really take Pi that seriously, there’s another funny holiday: The Steak and Blowjob day. Seriously! It seems it’s something like a reward for all the corny Valentine’s stuff we had to go through exactly a month ago to please our girls. So, if you have a special someone to share this Steak and BJ holiday with… go get ready for one night most guys dream of having!

Now, putting all the weird stuff aside, let’s talk about sports. No, wait, that looks weird too. At least if you are checking the latest Basketball news. In College basketball, March Madness has really honored its name since it seems it’s already driving people mad with events like a Mascot Fight! It happened between the schools IUPUI Jaguar and Oral Roberts Eagle (maybe they were fighting over who has the worst name…), with something that in the beginning looked like a common “friendly” rivalry. Next thing we know, they’re punching each other and rolling over the floor. Now that’s what I call getting ready for some March Madness spirit!

Price Per Head software with low cost per head fees

It would be better to turn our heads to pro basketball, but then you realize you can’t go to the games in April without the last Vogue magazine issue because King James will be on the cover. Again, not joking. LeBron James will be the third man in history to appear on the cover of Vogue, after Richard Gere and George Clooney. He’ll be the perfect match for Gisele Bündchen, the other icon that will appear on the magazine. It seems the issue will be about size and shape and those 2 are perfect to represent that. Go figure. Now I’m not just thinking about Tom Brady’s future and performance, now I have to worry about LeBron too. How come they all become celebrities and do what any actor or singer in the need of some self-promotion does now?

These are very, very strange days for the basketball world. Pick your favorite holiday for today, and your favorite wacky basketball moment.

Sports Illustrated unveils Marissa Miller as swimsuit cover girl

February 13th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Today I’m still focusing on sports, but not in a conventional way. This little break we take after the Super Bowl, while you catch up with the rest of the Sports World. Well, I said it once. What’s sports without hot girls? Sports Illustrated knows that too, and that’s why we have a 2008 SI swimsuit calendar full of hotties. And I mean top-class hotties.

The cover was revealed by David Letterman on the Late Show a couple of days ago. So, it’s all over the news that supermodel Marissa Miller is this year’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover. Not bad at all, huh?

Marissa Miller barely-covered in the cover

The “Barely Bikinis” issue shows Miller barely-bikini-covered. So sexy… yet elegant. Even when we usually don’t care about the photographers (that’s obviously the last thing we’re going to look at), I have to say it’s a good job. This is not the first time Miller poses for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit pages, but this is her first cover in the calendar.

Other sexy models that will be showing their best on the calendar are Jessica White, Brooklyn Decker, Anne V and Tori Praver. It seems we’ll have a lot to see this year!

Are you ready to get yours? I definitely will. If I’m going to keep something as useless as a calendar, it’d better have some hot bikini girls to make it worthy.

Tom Brady goes to the Super Bowl with a marriage proposal

January 31st, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Just a few days away from the Super Bowl, The Patriots are the obvious favorites and the world is practically going around them. They couldn’t be more popular than right now (well, only if they win the Super Bowl they will be more popular), and of course all the players are enjoying being so famous… especially Tom Brady.

And now there’s no doubt about it, after what happened during their Press Day. It seems is not enough that he’s dating top model Gisele Bündchen, but he also gets the attention from any other decent-looking woman… even marriage proposals.

Yes!! Believe it or not, this Mexican reporter, Ines Gomez-Mont, showed up in a wedding dress and had the guts to propose to the star Patriots quarterback:

It seems this week is all about funny videos! It was more like a funny moment (I mean, nobody could’ve seriously expected him to dump hottie Gisele Bündchen and say yes to what’s-her-face), but it caused the surprise on everybody. Well, she’s definitely no top model at all, but as I said, she’s decent looking. Not bad to have on the records.

There must be a lot of girls that will probably want to do the same. So don’t feel surprised if you are watching the Super Bowl this Sunday and notice a huge section of white-dressed girls cheering for Brady.

Dana Jacobson to the politically incorrect hall of fame

January 24th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

First, it was Kelly Tilghman. Now, we are talking about Dana Jacobson. Public comments marked as “inappropriate” seem to be a new trend among news anchors. The difference is that Kelly Tilghman’s joke was harshly punished and I think it wasn’t that big of a deal. However, ESPN’s Dana Jacobson really made a fool of herself.

It seems it happened during one of those famous roasts for ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike, where public figures go to the podium and tell their impressions on the guests of honor and all that. I guess the party must’ve been really good because Jacobson went right there to the podium carrying a bottle of vodka, and then started a weird rude rambling speech (probably kinda drunk) that included a lot of insults and awful comments against the guys of Notre Dame. Let’s remember Notre Dame’s coach Charlie Weis was there. She had to be finally pulled off the podium by Jeff Ross.

Jacobson has apologized publicly to Notre Dame, to the audience and to poor guys Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, who were obviously embarrased by the situation. She says her actions don’t represent at all who she is, and that her comments about Notre Dame were “foolish and insensitive”. But even though she apologized, Dana has been suspended after all. The Sports News world is being shaken by controversy everywhere, since Golfweek magazine just fired editor Dave Seanor for approving the infamous mag cover with the swinging noose, to illustrate the Tilghman scandal. Really, these golfers are some serious oversensitive thing.

Well, it’s obvious that if you want to be a Sports anchor or even a writer, you need to have more than just your talent: you have to be politically correct or else these guys are going to tear you off in a million pieces.
