We all make mistakes. But some people could start to get less empathetic when the mistake-maker doesn’t feel like apologizing. That seems to be the case for New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress.
Burress was suspended for one NFL game, after he missed a team meeting without letting anyone know about the reasons of his absence. Not making that phone call costed him to watch the defeat against the Seattle Seahawks from the bench.
Some seem upset because he didn’t apologize about the suspension. In fact, Plaxico said he doesn’t regret his decision at all. Some say his big “emergency” to skip the meeting was “having to take his son to school”. He says he just put his family first (which is fine). But how can you just not go to a meeting and not even call first when you belong to the NFL Champions team? Wow, that’s really not caring for your job.
Plaxico Burress said nobody really knew the situation he faced, but refused to give further details. The point is that he’s back now, and doesn’t seem very sorry for the punishment he received. The lack of discipline in our current players is easy to notice. Let’s hope not all of them have that little interest in being responsible.
The Houston Texans had a bad start this NFL football season, with a 0-3 record so far, and all the games played on the road. But next Sunday they will have a chance to get back on their feet a little and try to even things up. On Sunday, the Texans will have their first game with home field advantage.
What’s even better is that they will be facing the Indianapolis Colts, former NFL Champions, that started the NFL Season with the wrong foot this year too. Who would’ve thought it would be good for a team to face the Colts? But right now the Indianapolispro football team has a record of 1-2.
If the Texans know how to take advantage of the Colts’ weakness, this could end up on their first victory of the Season. But, as we’ve seen so many times, being at home is not enough to win a game. They will have to work hard if they want to change those negative scores; after all, the Indianapolis Colts have defeated them in 11 of the 12 encounters they’ve had.
So, if you don’t have your NFL tickets for this game, just watch it from home. Maybe there’s not a lot of action to see, but it’s definitely a game I will be following.
Oops… he did it again. It wouldn’t be the NFL Season if Terrell Owens weren’t spilling his drama all over the place.
Even though he’s been acknowledged as a very decent (even good) player, it seems Owens thinks he’s more of a star and should be a bigger part of the action so his team can win. T.O. was very unhappy with the last Dallas Cowboys game last Sunday, when they were beaten by the Washington Redskins at their own field. The Cowboys just lost by a couple of points, but it was more than enough to make T.O. rant about it.
Now it turns out that the reasonDallas lost is because they didn’t get enough Terrell. “Everybody recognized that I wasn’t really getting the ball in the first half”, said his super ego. So that’s it. If we just stopped being so selfish and let poor Terrell Owens be the real star as he was meant to be… oh, things would be a lot different. Screw Tony Romo! Owens is more than enough to lead his team to a solid victory… if we just let him have the ball. The funny part is that, from 58 offensive plays made by the Cowboys, T.O. was involved in about 20 of them.
Anyway, seems like we have a lot of Owens left to stir things up when everything looks just too quiet and “average”, and when people aren’t paying enough attention to his violent and tearful episodes. How hard it is for a sports betting fan to put his trust (and money) on their team when it’s built with “attention hoes” more than skilled football players!.
Seems the St. Louis Rams just had it. How did it take them so long? But they finally had enough of being the team always at the bottom of the NFL standings and the underdog by default. The St. Louis Rams are trying to start over, and to achieve that they started by firing theirhead coachScott Linehan.
The decision (which seems to be like an NFL trend these days) came after last Sunday’s game, where the Rams lost their fourth game of the NFL football season, this time at home. It probably was humiliating enough when the Buffalo Bills beat the hell out of them by scoring 25-0 just on the second half of the game.
St. Louis has a shameful 0-4 record for the Season, and we’re not even counting the awful numbers they had last year. So they finally realized their situation was “no longer acceptable” (according to the statement released by the Team) and they decided to make a drastic change. Linehan had been with the Rams since 2006, and things were dropping down until they reached the level we all know today. Still, it wasn’t that much of a shock for Linehan, who was put on notice by Chip Rosenbloom that his job would be at stake during this game. None of his line-up changes worked at all.
Scott Linehan will be temporarily replaced by Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett. They plan to give more details on the franchise’s future during the Rams news conference they have planned for later today. See? There’s still some light at the end of the tunnel for all those die-hard St. Louis Rams betting fans!
After 7 painful years with the lowest records, the Detroit Lions finally decided to “cut off” what they believe to be the problem, and they just fired their President Matt Millen. This is known according to reports from networks like FOX and ESPN. Is this the beginning of better times for the Lions?
Since the news is fresh there are still some rumors to confirm. It is not clear yet if Millen removed himself from the position or if he was actually kicked out of the NFL team. He was probably fired, that makes sense especially if we remember that just a few days ago William Clay Ford Jr. (Detroit Lions Vice Chairman) said Millen should leave. What a coincidence! But the fact that he won’t be a part of the Detroit Lions anymore really means a big change. Wasn’t that what most Lions NFL betting fans wanted?
But who could blame them. After having the NFL’s worst record of 31-84 on their games, they really needed to do something. They’ve been let down constantly since 2001. Was that Matt Millen’s fault? Possibly. Some also blame William C.Ford. And almost all of those fans agree that Millen had to be fired a long time ago.
Now who’s going to take over? This is the next big decision the Lions will have to make to change their recent history. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a better Detroit NFL team. This is BYE week for the Lions, but I want to see fans celebrating on October 5th at home! Get your NFL tickets now!
Yes, they’re alive! Last Monday, the San Diego Chargers threw a reminder to the AFC players and fans, to let them know they’re still out there and they want to win.
The Chargers felt really comfortable at home and proved it when they defeated the New York Jets 29-48. San Diegodominated 3 out of the 4 quarters during the NFL game, making the Jets (the Favre Jets!) look not-so-good. Sure, it hasn’t been a great start for the Chargers, who were 0-2 before this game. It’s their first victory! Why make a big fuzz about it, you would say?
Well, a bad start could happen to anyone. But, looking at the AFC contenders, we can’t just put the Chargers away. They have been consistently good (or at least above decent) during the last seasons. We know they have a solid team. The kind of team that could give a big surprise along the way. Didn’t the Giants do just that, and at the very end of the road?
Keep an eye on LaDainian Tomlinson, and keep an eye on the Chargers. This team could get a lot further than we think.
For these NFL Week 3 picks, the favorites are pretty much the same: The New York Giants stay on top. Who would’ve thought the NFL Champions actually had so much to offer at the beginning of this season!
With a decent 7-16 score in their favor on Week 1 and a smashing 41-13 victory last Sunday against the Rams, the Giants are building a good NFL Season. They remain as the best NFL Pick for this week, considering they will be facing the Bengals on Sunday at 1:00PM ET. The New York Giants will have the home field advantage for this game, and the forecasts seem to go on their favor because the Bengals’ performance hasn’t been very good.
And even though they lost their best element, the New England Patriots are also favorites to win their upcoming game. The Patriots will be at home welcoming the Miami Dolphins, which have lost the 2 previous games and lie at the bottom of their NFL Division Standings. New England has some good advantage here, even though they go out there with little trust on Cassel.
Those are my 2 “safest” NFL picks for this week. How about you guys?
After some Monday Night Football betting action, we can definitely spot the top NFL teams so far, and the fact that they began the NFL Season with 2 victories and a great performance, make us consider a lot the bets we’re going to place for the next weeks.
First, on Sunday the defending Champions kept showing their best. The New York Giants had a great game, although the victory was almost sure: who couldn’t beat the hopeless St. Louis Rams? Yeah, that’s what we thought. But still, a nice 41-13 football score was enough to place the Giants in top of the NFL rankings. If you thought last year’s sweep was all luck, think again! Maybe that’s where you should be putting your money.
Following closely in a solid 2nd place, are the Dallas Cowboys. What a game last night! The Cowboys did great at home and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 31-41. Even though it was a close result, the game was a tough one and they had to turn the score upside down since the Eagles where leading by halftime.
Will this year have another Giants-Cowboys face-to-face on the Playoffs? There’s a long road ahead but follow these teams closely when you’re placing your NFL bets.
What a weekend! Not just the fact that I got to enjoy again a nice Sunday of Football and beer… but there was so much going on that my head is still spinning! Tom Brady out for this NFL Season! Now that is going to be a huge disappointment for many NFL betting fans.
After their opener Sunday night, the New England Patriots had the home field advantage and actually won the game, 10-17. But what they never imagined is the price they would have to pay, and the news that would make their game feel less successful: Thanks to an awful tackle, the Patriots star Quarterback Tom Brady is injured and is out of the field for the entire Season. It’s over! First and last game for Brady!
Brady was hit on his left leg by Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard at a pointduring the first part of the game. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and had to leave the field. What all the NFL and New England Patriots fans didn’t know was that his football injury was so bad that Tom Brady is out because his knee injury will require surgery. There go the Pats’ chances to be on the next Super Bowl!
The responsibility now relies on Matt Cassel, the poor guy that will have to deal with all the pressure to reach Brady’s outstanding performance level. Cassel took over during Sunday’s game and actually it wasn’t bad (they won the game, didn’t they?). Now all criticism is over him and all eyes will be following him for the next weeks. Not an easy task to fill in for golden boy Tom Brady! But the Patriots sound confident that Matt Cassel will do a good job.
But don’t panic, you all Patriots betting fans! Even though this changes a lot the advantage New England had and many wonder if they will actually have a record as good as last year’s, they’re still a very solid team. Brady was the star, no doubt about it. But Brady is not the team. And that’s what they will have to prove from now on without their lucky charm.
Just a couple of days away from kickoff time, the NFL odds are out and have everybody talking. Everybody wants to make the football picks soon (those who really were caught late without their bets ready). Now, is it really a surprise that the New England Patriots come out as the big favorites for week one?
Even though they were the “runner-ups” for last Season and didn’t take the NFL Championship title home, it’s still undeniable that the record they set with an undefeated season was amazing. Who wasn’t blown away by the perfect scores through the entire NFL season? It’s just too hard to think that it was a lucky streak and it probably just faded away during the offseason.
Does this mean we can expect a flawless 2008 NFL Season? Who knows. Maybe being defeated during the most important of all their games was hard enough to break their stride. But their performance is expected to be really good, whether they win all their games or not.
Another aspect to consider is that New England’s schedule for this football season isn’t as tough as everybody thought it would be. Usually, Division winners end up having a hard time! But not this year. This time, they actually have the highest numbers on the football odds as the unquestionable favorites.
This Sunday, the Pats will be playing against the Kansas City Chiefs. We’ll see then how true those numbers were and they will have to show if they’re still got what it takes to be the smashing favorites on the fist week of NFL Football season.
