Tiger Woods Returns to Competition

February 24th, 2009 - by Sports Bookie

People who know and follow golf are aware of the importance of having someone like Tiger Woods active in the professional golfing domain and, tell me, who doesn’t love watching Woods swinging golf clubs in professional tournaments? We all do.

So to know that he’s back after eight months out of the pro game due to an injury is a reason to celebrate for golfers and golf betting fans from all around the globe.

Two hundred and fifty three days was exactly the number of days which the pro golfer had to eliminate from his golfing agenda from 2008. But on day 254, he took one of his clubs and hit his first official competitive golf ball at the Accenture Match Play Championship.

During the 1st round of the competition at Dove Mountain, Tiger faced Australian Brendan Jones on a hot day with temperatures reaching eighty degrees.

The current Match Play champion, winning last year’s competition, had a rough time as he had to play five under par for the last 5 holes just to survive the 1st round.

As of now, he is also the number one seed.

The last time that Tiger Woods played professionally was when he won the US Open back on June 16th of last year where he defeated Rocco Mediate.

The week following that win, Woods went into the hospital where his left knee underwent reconstructive surgery.

This has been the longest period Tiger Woods has spent away from his professional golf career, but having won the Match Play Championship on three previous occasions, Woods has the credibility a golfer of his caliber deserves.

The main thing that everyone is happy about is to see him back in the game.  If he can conquer his fourth Match Play Championship, all the bad arguments surrounding his come back will disappear.
