Everybody knows him. Some hated him and many loved him, but was respected by all, especially on the basketball court. He turned out to be a prodigy and one of the best basketball players of all time.
People who aren’t basketball fans know who he is. That’s how big he got. He led the Chicago Bulls to numerous NBA championships. Plus, he even tried out for the Chicago White Sox when he briefly retired from the NBA, resulting into a complete waste of time (it happens).
I had the opportunity to see him play back in 2003 when he was with the Washington Wizards. It was against the Cleveland Cavaliers. I think he had scored around 30 points that night, something that was pretty much for him at that time. Obviously, it wasn’t the same Michael Jordan we all knew when he was with the Bulls.
His influence has been major for many new comers in the NBA. Players such as LeBron James (as an example the number 23 he uses on his jersey) and Dwayne Wade. Some sports broadcasters and experts have gone far to say that these young players are the “next Michael Jordan”. But we have to be real; no one is going to be able to take his spot.
He left a big legacy in basketball. But since then all the accomplishments he had, have been fading away throughout the years. Since he left, not many people follow basketball as they used to, but it is still watched by many. All his former teammates have tried to follow his footsteps, but nothing ever worked for them.
Besides those factors that I mentioned, basketball is still an important sport in the world. It is big as it is today thanks to Jordan. Many kids want to play basketball to be “Like Mike”, which is a good thing. So, don’t let your NBA betting be low just because the sport isn’t the same as it was. With this new generation of stars, you’ll probably be betting on the next Michael Jordan.
