The Atlanta Falcons’quarterback, Michael Vick, might not be able to play this year’s NFL season, until he faces the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Despite the fact that he will be released this July after completing a 23 month sentence, chances are that he still won’t play on the field after lying to Goodell two years ago about the dog fighting incident.
Many people think that Goodell is still going to keep him suspended mainly because Vick, basically, mocked him and took it as a joke when he was asked about his actions. Some people think the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is not doing its job and handed full responsibility towards the commissioner just to avoid a problem, demonstrating not much care for the interest of players.
Another issue is that the Falcons’ don’t want Vick anymore and the possibility of trading him to another team is most likely to happen. Many teams in the league are not interested in his services, but teams like the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings havetheir eye on Vick, but still are not sure what they will do. 49ers coach Mike Singletary said that Vick deserves another chance and that he will have a successful return.
The future of Vick is still uncertain. Whether he might play this season or not, if the Falcons are going to still keep him or eliminate his contract, the possibility of going to the CFL or if another team is going to sign him to their roster. The chances are very low. But whatever option comes up in the next few months, this could Vicks’ recovery and we might see a different and better Michael Vick the next time he touches the field.
