So far in the NFL playoffs

January 12th, 2009 - by Sports Bookie

Philadelphia EaglesGetting close to the very much expected Super bowl we have to make a small stop to conduct a little recap in what is going on in the NFL so far, and what are our expectations. This weekend was a bit surprising to me with the Eagles vs. Giants game, where the Philadelphia Eagles won a very exciting game, leaving the Giants fans expecting a better performance from the team. Yet the Giants joined the Miami Dolphins in an interesting NFL record: fewest turnovers in a 16-game schedule with a total of 13.

The most surprising thing however is definitely the NFL’s final four list; three of the NFL teams ready to play next Sunday were basically known underdogs, let’s recap:

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals: At this moment The Cardinals host an NFC title game for the first time in their history after their 33-13 erasure Saturday night of the No. 2 seed, the Carolina Panthers.

The Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Both are known rivals in their NFC North division, they will be looking to avenge the two previous defeats.

It is understandable to see the NFL fans cheering and enjoying these pretty interesting “small victories” especially so far in this NFL season. We can definitely expect a lot from this weekend’s NFL matches. I will certainly keep my eyes wide open, since I feel there will be awesome NFL records to be broken, or at least that is what I like to think. In my opinion Super bowl 2009 is still 3 weeks away and it is definitely too soon to jump into conclusions.

This years final four is surprising indeed. Tennessee, Carolina and the Giants all home favorites with an extra week to prepare, ALL lose to road dogs. Should be a great weekend of football.
