Brett Favre has always been a topic for conversation with his (lately) on-and-off pro football career and all his hello-goodbye dramas in the NFL. Now that it’s over, he’s still the one football betting fans talk about, but this time for a possible unethical behavior.
FoxSports reported on Sunday that former Green Bay Packers player and now New York Jets QB Favre called the Detroit Lions before the Packers-Lions game on NFL week 2, and gave them details about the Packers’ strategy. Green Bay won the game anyway, but the rumors are still concerning. Brett Favre has denied those rumors with a text message before his past New York Jets game, but the Lions preferred to stay with the “no comments” old line to avoid admitting inconvenient facts.
Since there’s no proof yet, there’s not much to be said about this NFL scandal. However, reactions have come on the Green Bay Packers’ side. While the Packers head coach said it would be really disappointing, others said that action is not to be respected at all. That one thing is if the Lions contacted Favre to get information. But since he was the one to seek out the Lions, that was a low move (honestly, I find it just as bad both ways).
NFL representatives say there’s nothing on the rules that can actually penalize doing something like what Brett Favre allegedly did, but this is obviously a very unethical action we’re talking about. The National Football League may not punish him, but if those rumors are true, NFL betting fans definitely will. Especially those Packers fans that always looked up to Favre as their idol.
Did Brett Favre have that much of a bad relationship with his former team to do something like that? Well, if he wanted to lose all bonds with Green Bay, he just did it perfectly. Next time he thinks about retiring, he’d better do it for good because there won’t be any chances back there, and probably not anywhere else.
