Tom Brady goes to the Super Bowl with a marriage proposal

January 31st, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Just a few days away from the Super Bowl, The Patriots are the obvious favorites and the world is practically going around them. They couldn’t be more popular than right now (well, only if they win the Super Bowl they will be more popular), and of course all the players are enjoying being so famous… especially Tom Brady.

And now there’s no doubt about it, after what happened during their Press Day. It seems is not enough that he’s dating top model Gisele Bündchen, but he also gets the attention from any other decent-looking woman… even marriage proposals.

Yes!! Believe it or not, this Mexican reporter, Ines Gomez-Mont, showed up in a wedding dress and had the guts to propose to the star Patriots quarterback:

It seems this week is all about funny videos! It was more like a funny moment (I mean, nobody could’ve seriously expected him to dump hottie Gisele Bündchen and say yes to what’s-her-face), but it caused the surprise on everybody. Well, she’s definitely no top model at all, but as I said, she’s decent looking. Not bad to have on the records.

There must be a lot of girls that will probably want to do the same. So don’t feel surprised if you are watching the Super Bowl this Sunday and notice a huge section of white-dressed girls cheering for Brady.

All the Cowboys fans are desperate… even Hitler

January 29th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

The unexpected loss suffered by the Cowboys just when everybody thought this would be one of their biggest NFL Seasons ever, is still giving a lot to talk about. Some still blame clueless Jessica for distracting Tony Romo, and others try to understand how that last game against the Giants could go so wrong.

But despite all the rage and confusion that many Dallas Cowboys fans have right now, somehow others found the way to take it with a good sense of humor. There’s this video going around on the Internet, trying to make fun of the Cowboys unexpected failure during the Playoffs, representing it with a piece of the german movie The Downfall:

Now, I didn’t know Hitler was a Cowboys fan! But there must be some guys just as extremist and angry as he was right there.

Those who are still sad about what happened could at least have a couple of laughs watching this video. Come on, get over it! Really, it’s hilarious!

Dana Jacobson to the politically incorrect hall of fame

January 24th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

First, it was Kelly Tilghman. Now, we are talking about Dana Jacobson. Public comments marked as “inappropriate” seem to be a new trend among news anchors. The difference is that Kelly Tilghman’s joke was harshly punished and I think it wasn’t that big of a deal. However, ESPN’s Dana Jacobson really made a fool of herself.

It seems it happened during one of those famous roasts for ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike, where public figures go to the podium and tell their impressions on the guests of honor and all that. I guess the party must’ve been really good because Jacobson went right there to the podium carrying a bottle of vodka, and then started a weird rude rambling speech (probably kinda drunk) that included a lot of insults and awful comments against the guys of Notre Dame. Let’s remember Notre Dame’s coach Charlie Weis was there. She had to be finally pulled off the podium by Jeff Ross.

Jacobson has apologized publicly to Notre Dame, to the audience and to poor guys Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, who were obviously embarrased by the situation. She says her actions don’t represent at all who she is, and that her comments about Notre Dame were “foolish and insensitive”. But even though she apologized, Dana has been suspended after all. The Sports News world is being shaken by controversy everywhere, since Golfweek magazine just fired editor Dave Seanor for approving the infamous mag cover with the swinging noose, to illustrate the Tilghman scandal. Really, these golfers are some serious oversensitive thing.

Well, it’s obvious that if you want to be a Sports anchor or even a writer, you need to have more than just your talent: you have to be politically correct or else these guys are going to tear you off in a million pieces.

Giants and Patriots are left…. with Tom Brady injured?

January 22nd, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Last weekend everything was said and done so we can have our Super Bowl now. The best 4 NFL Teams disputed the only couple of spots at the most important game of the 2007-2008 NFL Season. So that’s it: we are having the New England Patriots (big surprise) playing against the New York Giants (now THAT was a surprise!) on February 3rd.

There was a lot of excitement on Sunday. The teams gave their best to be part of the final two. However, the most shocking game was the one between the Packers and the Giants. Green Bay was the clear favorite (not to mention that they were playing at home), but surprisingly the ones that could step up and now are going to the Super Bowl are the Giants. The game ended with a tight result of 23-20.

What exactly could have distracted the Packers so much to lose their pass to the Super Bowl? Nobody knows. They had a lot on their side to take that victory. Some people say that maybe having these Green Bay Bikini Girls could’ve affected them:

I don’t know what it is, but it seems to be true that women have something powerful that makes men lose control of what they’re doing. I mean, they really can mae a football team lose!

But what really seems to be worrying is the fact that New England’s star quarterback, Tom Brady, was seen wearking a walking cast on his right foot. Could that be true? Now, that’s great timing for getting an injury!. When asked about it in WEEI radio, he said there’s always “bumps and bruises”, but he would be OK for the Super Bowl. This is a major thing to consider, since Brady is basically the strongest base for the team in every victory.

World Golf Tour - Just as good as the real thing

January 18th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Some guys are just true Golf fans. People that was born for that. But if you are like me, someone who likes to watch it sometimes and would like to play but looking for a good Golf course is just too much of a hassle, you’d probably want to find an option for having some golf fun… at home, or something. It seems to be a real hit among office workaholics that finally got something else to do with their lives. I know, it’s not really something new because golf games are already out there. However, it seems this one is getting so much attention it’s becoming addictive.

Want to give it try? Go to http://www.worldgolftour.com/.

This is some kind of real tournament, with great graphics and the possibility to play with your friends and all that.

And for those who still want to keep track of the REAL Golf world, remember the LPGA tour is starting 2008 right now, with the 2008 Women’s World Cup of Golf in South Africa. It will last until January 20th.

Is 2008 finally a great year for Andy Roddick?

January 17th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

USA tennis star Andy Roddick seems to be enjoying 2008 a lot. So far he’s had a great year on tennis tournaments, and the best proof of it is the fact that he’s advancing smoothly through Australian Open rounds.

Roddick pulled a very impressive game against German player Michael Berrer with a great 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 result. That’s all he needed to jump into the fourth round, as a 6th seed with a lot of potential for this year’s Grand Slam tournaments. On Friday night he will be facing Philipp Kohlschreiber in a very expected match.

Is this finally the time when Andy Roddick can shine like everybody wants him to? We’ve seen several times how he seems to have it each time and then… he just loses and gets kicked out of the tournament. Plus, the angry and emotional moments every time he misses a good play. Time could make people think about him as a not-so-good player if things keep on like that. Too bad, because that’s the best in the tennis world from the U.S right now. He’s ranked 6th, but he’s always defeated by the big ones. Let’s see what happens this time, since this seems to be the Roddick year.

Hate the Patriots - A couple of games away from being legends

January 15th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

Don’t you just hate the Patriots? It’s been said like a hundred times, but you can’t get tired of if. It’s like the New England Patriots had made a pact with the devil or something because they never freaking lose! Last weekend they reached a sweet 17-0 record (just a few steps away from making history), when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-31.

Some will say it was pretty obvious. But going beyond the fact that New England has advanced to the NFL Conference Championship (that they will dispute against the San Diego Chargers on January 20th), is the question that goes around everybody’s mind: How do they do it?! How can they crush every single team that gets on their way? The Patriots are the NFL’s bullies! It’s amazing how other players just sit and shake their heads trying to figure out what just happened. Tom Brady and his team, that’s what happened!

Well, it’s incredibly likely that we’ll have New England for the Super Bowl. So, who will be the brave contender from the NFC that will have to face the dragon? We will find out on Jan. 20th too. The Green Bay Packers will fight for the spot against the New York Giants. If this had happened a couple of months ago I would have said the Packers were the smashing favorites. But everyone that watched the Giants-Cowboys game will think about it twice. The Giants are giving their best and they can’t be underestimated. Green Bay will have home field advantage (and Brett Favre), but if the Giants pull the same type of game they played against Dallas, it will be a pure-adrenaline matchup.

Wow, I’m really sorry for the one that’s going to represent the NFC at the Super Bowl if the Patriots make it there. It will probably be scary as hell all the pressure they will have upon their backs.

Cowboys crushed by Giants on Playoffs - Owens shed some Giant tears

January 14th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

You can’t deny it was in fact a Giant surprise. After a remarkable 2007 NFL season, the Cowboys just let it slip out of their hands and lost at home against the New York Giants, 21-17. Bad day to lose a game! If you had a great season, how on earth do you lose the Playoffs?!

But after the shock of watching the Dallas Cowboys fall at their own field, there was a lot more waiting to happen. As expected, the one everyone had their hopes on, is the one that they’re first going to look for to get his head. So, people asked about Tony Romo, and how his vacations and his getaway with girlfriend Jessica Simpson could’ve affected his performance or been a distraction, causing the team’s loss. On the podium was the always-polemic Terrell Owens, who could actually change his name from T.O. to D.Q., like the Drama Queen he was. Owens stepped up to defend Romo and saying it wasn’t fair to blame it on him (which was nice), taking it to TEARS. Yes, for those who missed the soap opera, I know you will have to see it so you can believe:

“That’s MY quarterback, *snif*, it’s not fair! *snif*”. That’s what we can see in this tragic scene. When Owens was asked why he was so overemotional about it, he said it was because he knew what it was like. Talk about an attention whore! Those tears are probably as fake as Pamela Anderson’s boobs. But oh, well. Since he realized he’s not getting any more attention and video time because he’ll be out forthe rest of the Postseason, he had to come up with something that could remain fresh for people to talk about. And here we are, talking about it!

Anyway, too bad for the Cowboys, they were hard workers and they had a good season. Tony Romo led them as far as he could. We can’t just throw it all on him, it’s not like he’s playing alone. So, if he failed, there’s a lot more to work on these months, because someone has to be able to cover up for the star QB sometimes.

The Australian Open is coming!

January 11th, 2008 - by Sports Bookie

The Tennis world is warming engines for the upcoming events. Right now people are showing their skills in Australia and New Zealand. But, as I said, this is just the warm-up for the beginning of the 2008 Grand Slam events.

Next Monday those who like to bet on sports different than just Football (and of course those who really enjoy Tennis tournaments) will be very excited with the start of the Australian Open. Melbourne Park will be packed with great tennis players and fans. Definitely something to keep track of.

Serena Williams, one of the Defending Champions, gets some expectation since some still doubt she’s fully recovered from the old knee incident. But the one that has everyone’s eyes upon him is star Roger Federer.  Despite the records achieved by Federer and all the Grand Slam titles he has collected, the fact that he’s been out of the courts for quite a while worries some of the usual betting fans. Some kind of stomach virus attacked Roger and made him pull out from the warm-up. He hasn’t played since November. Will he be out of shape for the Australian Open?

It will be refreshing to take some time and watch something different. Nothing like a good Tennis tournament to bet on. Now, that’s professional sports!
