Tennessee Titans remain as the only undefeated this NFL season

November 12th, 2008

It just happened this Sunday, and has happened during the entire NFL Football Season. The Tennessee Titans are working hard to go undefeated this year, and have already accumulated 9 victories… and no losses. Had anyone noticed?

Last Sunday the Titans faced the Chicago Bears in an exciting game with a 21-14 final NFL Score. Kerry Collins was the hero of the day, with 2 touchdowns and 289 yards. So that’s how Tennessee made it up for the runningbacks’ poor performance. What looked like their possible first failure turned into another win to collect, remaining as the only NFL team with no defeats on the NFL 2008 Season. How do they do it?

Nobody expected so much from Tennessee. With all the fuzz and with Brady out of the Patriots, the other pro football team with the biggest shot to go undefeated was the New York Giants, defending Champions. Meanwhile, the Titans started to fly on their way to the flawless season, without almost nobody even looking at their achievements. And so, silently, they passed by the rest of the struggling teams.  With last weekend’s game, Tennessee proved that even in their lowest performance level, this season they’re meant to win.

On NFL Week 11, the Tennessee Titans will be facing the Jaguars at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. NFL betting fans will be following the Titans and see how that goes. I’ll be playing my money there too. How about you? You think this is a new streak or just some luck?

Broncos win with great comeback on Thursday Night Football

November 7th, 2008

The Denver Broncos made a great comeback on Thursday Night, when they defeated the Cleveland Browns with a 34-30 NFL score. Not bad at all, considering they had few chances of winning!

The NFL game took place in Cleveland, which probably was what gave the Browns the advantage on the first half of the game. Even though the Browns have had a really poor performance so far, everything seemed to be set for a victory the NFL team and football betting fans would’ve enjoyed at home.

The third quarter ended up in a tie and the Broncos, up on the NFL Standings, seemed to have that game taken away from them already. So how did they manage to score 21 points during the last quarter and beat the home team? Easy: Cutler threw a pass to Royal and then a pass to Daniel Graham. Pretty much all they needed to thrash the Browns!

This was the 8th straight game between these 2 NFL teams that was won by the Denver Broncos. The longtime rivalry is definitely going to remain there! And the Browns are also going to remain right there… almost at the bottom of the standings.

USA Election – If our President was an NFL Player

November 4th, 2008

Today are the USA Presidential Elections. Everything is going around this event and, in a day like today, the sports betting world is usually left behind. So, if you are just as me and enjoy sports so much that you can’t just forget about it, you’ll enjoy this thing I came up with for the special day.

What would happen if our new President was…

Brett Favre: Ah, just forget about it. You’ll have this guy for decades. He’ll cry when the period ends, say goodbye and then just run for President again.

Terrell Owens: Presidential speeches will be significantly reduced due to his lack of control over his emotions. He will probably cry and complain about how Bush has been hardly criticized these years.

Tom Brady: He’d better get a good Vice President with him because he could break a leg or something on his first day of Command.

Tony Romo:  Many will probably think the First Lady will be distracting him from his duties so we’ll end up officially losing the war.

Plaxico Burress: Don’t bother trying to attend his speeches, meetings, parties, or other scheduled activities, you know he won’t show up anyway.

So, who would be your favorite NFL president? Start voting now!

NBA Season Starts – Iverson goes to the Pistons

November 3rd, 2008

The NBA 08-09 Season just begun, just in time for all those sports betting fans who ran out of baseball games to go with their NFL regular season. Finally! Now it’s daily action for sports fans.

The NBA basketball season began with an exciting game between the Defending Champions, the Boston Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics maintained the supremacy with a 90-85 score. That day the Bucks, Bulls, Trail Blazers and Lakers also had their Season opener.

Today the action continues with 6 NBA games, including teams like the Pistons, Bulls, Warriors, Mavericks (facing the Cleveland Cavaliers, available on NBA TV) and Jazz. You can’t miss it!

On the other hand NBA changes are already here, and the most commented today has been the trade of Allen Iverson, from the Denver Nuggets, to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Chauncey Billups. One former MVP for another. According to his agent, Iverson is very excited about the trade, and so are the Pistons.

So, it’s NBA time. Are you ready? ‘Cause this season will be pure adrenaline!

Phillies take MLB World Series Title

October 30th, 2008

Some still can’t believe what happened on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. After more than a decade of passing by every MLB season without any glory, the Philadelphia Phillies finally got their World Series Championship Title when they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3.

The victory was obtained in unusual conditions, considering that when they entered the baseball field on Wednesday, they had half of the baseball game already played. However, they were on a tie by that time, so it was still exciting and nothing was said and done yet. It was like watching the season finale of your favorite TV show.

The Phillies took the lead during the seventh inning and the game was defined at that moment. Cole Hamels, star pitcher from Philadelphia also became the World Series MVP. Well deserved!

Now all those who remained as Phillies fans (or “Phillies Phans”) during all these years when they were at the bottom of the standings are getting what they’ve been dreaming of, and will have a huge celebration for their second title in the almost 100 years of existence.

The Phillies Parade will be on Friday down Broad Street to the Citizens Bank Park.  If you’re one of the die-hard fans, I know you won’t miss it! Go, Phillies!

Phillies one step away from the World Series Title

October 29th, 2008

Just one game away from a possible World Series Championship and the game that had to define it all was suspended.

The Philadelphia Phillies were playing one of the most important games of the last… 10? No, 28 years! The only World Series title the Phillies got was in 1980. And now they’re just one step away from having the 2008 World Series Champions title. The global score is 3-1 against the Tampa Bay Rays and the world series game 5 was about to define if we had a MLB Champion already or not. The excitement in Philly was impossible to describe.

And then everything happens just like in a movie: Both teams tied by the sixth inning and then the game has to be suspended, due to heavy rain. This is MLB history! A World Series game 5 suspended with a big cliffhanger and lots of expectation.

The game is supposed to resume tonight. Those who missed the outstanding 5 ½ innings of this game can watch them on FOX right before the rest of the World Series… final? We’ll see.

Phillies win World Series game 1

October 23rd, 2008

The MLB World Series is finally here, and the first game was full of action, as the Phillies took the advantage and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2.

The opener on Wednesday night was in Florida, where the Phillies did better than everyone expected. It was a very tight game, which was led to Philadelphia’s victory by figures like Chase Utley (who hit a two-run homer) and Cole Hamels. The Rays started the game with a fierce play, but then stopped the hits after the fifth inning and stayed with just 5.

This wasn’t a good night for Scott Kazmir either, who gave up six hits and had a hard time trying to keep his performance up. Kazmir admitted he felt like he was battling every inning. But still, he’s one of the Rays’ best assets. He just needs to get a grip and start working for real.

The Phillies will try again Thursday night to prove it wasn’t just luck and will try to get their second victory on the road. It won’t be easy: we’re talking about facing an MLB team that has won 18 of the last 22 titles. They definitely started with the right foot! But the home field advantage is still on the Rays’ side, so nothing is said and done yet.

David Beckham joins AC Milan during MLS offseason

October 22nd, 2008

David Beckham won’t be wasting any time during the MLS offseason, as he will be moved to the Italian soccer club AC Milan in January, as a loan from his current club, the L.A. Galaxy.

The former Man U star is moving to keep playing competitive football and try to stay in good shape so he’s eligible for the national team for different friendly games and qualifiers. How good will this decision be? For the Galaxy… and of course, for the AC Milan.

Is this a marketing stunt? For the Milan it definitely is. This will be a great way to draw more money to their team. They haven’t been on their best moment (financially speaking). And who says “soccer” around the world in a more popular way than David Beckham.  Maybe not the best player, but the most famous, no doubt about that. Beckham was a great merchandising source for Manchester United, he put the L.A. Galaxy on the spotlight, and now he’s going to get the world’s attention from Italy. Let’s be honest! It’s not like the AC Milan really needs Beckham as a part of the squad, does it?

The good part for LA Galaxy soccer betting fans is that this hard work with top-class figures will help Becks get fitter and improve his skills. Some of the best qualities Beckham used to have were fading with the years, and others might just be a little rusty after all this time playing with a low-profile soccer league like the MLS (there’s no comparison for us with European soccer yet!)

David Beckham will be back with the Galaxy by April 2009, when the MLS Season starts again. Let’s hope he gets back as the star everyone claims him to be.

Brett Favre gave Packers info to Detroit Lions on Week 2?

October 21st, 2008

Brett Favre has always been a topic for conversation with his (lately) on-and-off pro football career and all his hello-goodbye dramas in the NFL. Now that it’s over, he’s still the one football betting fans talk about, but this time for a possible unethical behavior.

FoxSports reported on Sunday that former Green Bay Packers player and now New York Jets QB Favre called the Detroit Lions before the Packers-Lions game on NFL week 2, and gave them details about the Packers’ strategy. Green Bay won the game anyway, but the rumors are still concerning. Brett Favre has denied those rumors with a text message before his past New York Jets game, but the Lions preferred to stay with the “no comments” old line to avoid admitting inconvenient facts.

Since there’s no proof yet, there’s not much to be said about this NFL scandal. However, reactions have come on the Green Bay Packers’ side. While the Packers head coach said it would be really disappointing, others said that action is not to be respected at all. That one thing is if the Lions contacted Favre to get information. But since he was the one to seek out the Lions, that was a low move (honestly, I find it just as bad both ways).

NFL representatives say there’s nothing on the rules that can actually penalize doing something like what Brett Favre allegedly did, but this is obviously a very unethical action we’re talking about. The National Football League may not punish him, but if those rumors are true, NFL betting fans definitely will. Especially those Packers fans that always looked up to Favre as their idol.

Did Brett Favre have that much of a bad relationship with his former team to do something like that? Well, if he wanted to lose all bonds with Green Bay, he just did it perfectly. Next time he thinks about retiring, he’d better do it for good because there won’t be any chances back there, and probably not anywhere else.

MLB Playoffs – Red Sox win game 5 with great comeback

October 17th, 2008

Even though I’ve been a little away from this MLB Season, I definitely have to talk about it today. What happened Thursday night during this MLB Playoffs game is just unbelievable. The Red Sox won the game with an 8-7 score.

Well, it doesn’t sound like an amazing thing if you put it like that. But all those MLB betting fans that were watching the game, know how incredible it was to see the Sox winning the game after they were down 7-0, a huge advantage for the Tampa Bay Rays on the scores.

Things looked pretty bad for the Boston Red Sox by the sixth inning.  Then Scott Kazmir left the game, and everything changed. By the eighth inning Boston had tied the MLB score and everyone was in shock. All this to finish with the glory of a victory on the ninth inning. Sounds like one of those Disney movies, but that’s how it happened!

Despite of the amazing Boston Red Sox comeback of that game, the Rays are still on top of this series with a 3-2 overall score. Now the series is moving to Florida. But the Sox are still alive! Are they going to give us some more surprises on these ALCS games?
